A Norwegian social science colleague once spoke to honour Johan at a birthday party – if I remember correctly – and said something like – “You have produced articles and lectures at a breakneck pace. It would have fine too if you had produced less…” (laughter).
His American peer and friend, Kenneth Boulding – who stated his famous “twelve friendly quarrels” with Johan (1977) allegedly said that it is difficult to understand how all these books, articles, lectures and speeches could have been produced by a single human being.
But they were.
His brain working at tremendous pace and being a true multi-tasker, Johan was an unstoppable writer and speaker. And always a curious learner.
Find below some sources to his immense production. Some stopped listing when they were made and have not been updated since. Others may be selective. But there is more than enough to give you the gist of his thinking over almost 75 years…
That said, it must be remembered that Johan was a producer not only of books, articles and lectures; he also produced peace, conflict-resolution, mediation in numerous conflicts around the world, and he produced institutes, journals and networks like Transcend.
And – like in my own case – he produced students, doctors and research projects.
