While alive, Johan was controversial, he was attacked and he was admired. After his death, some colleagues and friends have written about his life work, theories and standpoints.
The list below will undoubtedly become longer as time goes by. Lots of scholarly dialogues took place way before the internet and were conducted in printed books and journals. I have not tried to locate or convert them to digital format. Many are also behind paywalls at academic publishing houses (which does not exactly help access, free research and learning).
One early example was Lars Dencik (ed), Fred, våld, konflikt. Om fredsforskning och dess nyckelbegrepp, Studentlitteratur 1973 (in Swedish only).
Another early example was Hans-Henrik Holm’s “Johan Galtung: ‘Superstar’ or ‘revivalist’ : On the Evolution of Johan Galtung’s Concept of Science” from 1975 (in Danish only).
